Popcorn (Zea mays var. everta)

Hopi Pop

A very early popcorn variety. Small plants, only about 100 cm tall with 9-11 leaves, with 1-2 cobs that are 7-10 cm long with 12 rows of rather small kernels. Can be grown with tight spacing (20-25 cm between plants). 85 days (115 days from sowing to harvest in Sweden). The kernels are rather small, but pop well. This variety is very similar to Tom Thumb, but is said to be on average a couple of days later and to yield slightly better. I cannot see this however. "Popi-Hopi" is probably another name for the same variety.
