Club wheat is a type of bread wheat where the ear is compressed so it becomes short and chubby. Because it is more compact, the spikes point more outwards than for normal wheat.
There are both spring and winter varieties of club wheat. It is free threshing and belongs to the same species as bread wheat.
Club wheat is not grown commercially in Scandinavia, but a number of landraces have been collected, which are stored at NordGen.
