Dun Pea (Pisum sativum )

Red Fox

A modern leafless dun pea that grows to 50-60 cm tall and has reddish brown seeds.
"Leafless" means that the leaves are converted to tendrils and the plants hold on to each other much better and don't need any support. However the stipules are still there and look like "leaves". The stipules sit where the leaf stalk meets the plant stem. The mutation for leaflessness has probably emerged several times during the history of pea cultivation.
