Oats (Avena)

Oats are a cereal that has the seeds in a panicle, unlike most cereals that have spikes. Oats are sown in spring.
The most grown species Avena sativa (common oats) has grains that are tightly enclosed in the hull. Hulless oats (Avena nuda) on the other hand has grains that are free treshing.
